Sesame Prawn Toast πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³

A Takeaway Favourite, with Considerably More Prawn!

Another takeaway classic that I’ve made a few times now and it always goes down well! Prawn toast is one of my go-to orders whenever I look at a Chinese takeaway menu, but quite often you end up with lots of fried bread and only the faintest suggestion that a prawn was ever involved. So I first made my own a year or so ago and have gone back to it a few times since.

It’s actually really simple and an air fryer classic. I roughly chop cooked prawns and mix them with some pork sausage meat, usually about three parts prawn to one part sausage. Then I add spring onions, fresh ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and white pepper, followed by an egg and a little water to bring everything together.

Then comes the sophisticated culinary equipment: a drinking glass. I use it to cut circles from slices of white bread, spoon a generous mound of the prawn mixture on top and finish them with plenty of sesame seeds.

Into the air fryer for around 15 minutes until golden and crispy, then serve with sweet chilli sauce.

Really easy, ridiculously tasty and, most importantly, there’s actually plenty of prawn in the prawn toast!
